Diehard Corvette automobile collectors should get ready for RM Auction's forthcoming June sale in San Diego, US.
There, not one but two L88 Corvettes will by driving onto the auction block. The L88 is nicknamed the "white whale" of the Corvette market because they are so rarely seen.

As a result, the L88s are tremendously sought-after - and their status in the high performance world borders on the mythical.
In addition to the famous gold "Automotically Yours" L88 Corvette, RM will also offer the terrific matching numbers example, one of the last L88s built and the only 1969 Monza Red/Saddle leather example produced.
It remained in the original owner's care until 2005 and has documented provenance from new, with only 2,265 original miles.
In period, its best quarter-mile time was travelled in 10.82 seconds, at a speed of 156.65mph.

The cars are two of only 116 high-performance L88s made in 1969. Both cars will appear at RM Auction's event with no reserve.
RM Auction's Classic Muscle & Modern Performance auction will take place on June 19.
