Rare propeller could be flying high at Horner's antique auction

Horner's Auctioneers is holding an antiques auction with a genuinely wide variety of collectibles pieces available including jewellery, vases and even silver cutlery.

However, two very different items stand out: Firstly there is a George III mahogany secretaire bookcase with astragal glazed doors on a bracket foot.

This is certainly an attractive piece, and probably worth more than its £2,000-2,500 ($4,050) estimate.

However, collectors on the lookout for a truly unique and beautiful piece from that period might prefer to take a look at this important George III period mahogany and satinwood cabinet which is also currently available.

Aviation collectors who want to get closer to the action than a signature or logbook will be excited to see one particular lot - although it's probably not something easily displayed in a living room:

This is a rare wooden tail end propeller, full size with brass tips and the boss set with a smiths clock also stamped p.t.h. 5.35 - f.e.2.b120 apo d. Lr. This was for a pusher biplane product of the royal aircraft factory. 'F.E.' stands for 'fighter experimental'.

Propellers are not often seen at auction (though Dominic Winter offered some interesting ones last year). This one is listed at £1,000-1,500 ($2,400).

Horner's auction will take place in Norfolk, UK and online, this Saturday March 26. Collectors interested in investing in truly historical plane parts will be excited to know that some parts of Charles Lindbergh's record-breaking Spirit of St Louis are currently available.
