A roll of Edelweiss brand toilet paper issued to Nazi soldiers during the second world war is to cross the block at Whyte's Auctioneers in Dublin.
|
The bizarre lot is expected to make around $89-133 in the September 17 Eclectic Collector sale.
It's still in its original packaging and bears the name and badge of the Wehrmacht, which made up the bulk of German forces during the Nazi era.
The Edelweiss is a national symbol of Austria and was the subject of a marching song often sung by the Wehrmacht, Es war ein Edelweiss.
Fortunately for bidders the roll is described as being in "remarkable unused condition".
