Gibson guitar could rock to the tune of $15,000 at Heritage

Are you a frustrated air guitarist with some money to invest?

Vintage guitars are among the most
bankable collectible investments
on the markets

Then here's a quick reminder that bidding in Heritage Auctions' latest Vintage Guitar & Musical Instrument Internet Auction closes tomorrow (Thursday, May 5 at 10pm CT).

Highlights among the 203 lots include this unmistakeable 1959 Gibson ES-335 Sunburst Archtop Electric Guitar #A31280.

Like a fine classic car, it's all original "with moderate weather checking overall."

Its stop bar has been removed and a Bigsby whammy bar has been added (for non-guitarists, the whammy bar helps you bend note pitches up and down). The Bigsby is old, though probably not original.

Other features on the ES-335 include a factory stinger on back of its headstock.

There is no evidence of repair, and the guitar's age is evidence in its shrunken original tuner buttons.

Billed as being in "good" condition, bids on this classic instrument have climbed to $8,500 at the time of writing, although it's estimated to climb to $15,000 or more.

A 19.5% buyer's premium will be added to the successful winning bid. Watch this space for upcoming news on the online sale.
