A brilliant 1975 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Limousine, previously owned by both Princess Margaret and American film star Burt Reynolds, will be sold by Bonhams in the Rolls-Royce, Bentley Motor Cars & Automobilia sale at Rockingham Castle, Leicestershire on Saturday, June 18.
There is a strong connection to the British Royal family, as the Rolls-Royce became their car of choice after WWII. The fact it was owned by Princess Margaret means it has many unique, customised features, like leather trimmed door caps, Nuella Black hide interior and Cardinal Red paintwork.
In addition, it was requested the seats be 'soft and comfortable', while other features include a flag mast and even a blue police lamp.
It is expected to sell for £20,000-22,000 ($32,751.29-36,023.93). Given its incredible provenance, it is in truth a low price for such a car, considering how much a Rolls-Royce would normally cost, and then there is the added star quality.
The vehicle will also be of interest to the American market because it was owned by movie star Burt Reynolds. In 1984, he bought the car and kept it at his ranch in Florida. This car therefore represents a unique insight into a Rolls-Royce that encapsulated the tastes of both Royalty and Hollywood.
Other auction highlights include a 1938 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Cabriolet, which was considered one of the most outstanding luxury cars of the 1930s.
It is estimated to sell for £160,000 - 180,000 ($261,969-$294,715). A total of 710 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Cabriolet had been manufactured before WWII halted production, and only 300 exist worldwide today.
This rarity accounts for the high price, but considering it is only going to get even scarcer, it could be a wise investment.
Among the Bentleys offered by Bonhams, a 1996 Bentley Azure Convertible is estimated to sell for £65,000 - 75,000 ($106,460-$122,807).
