Dreams in bottles to raise funds for Save the Children

A selection of dreams in bottles designed by various celebrities will sell for charity at Paddle8 Auctions.

They were created to coincide with the release of Steven Spielberg's The BFG movie last month - based on the classic children's book by Roald Dhal - and were exhibited around London.

Steven Spielberg's dream involves a vast number of sweets

Among the highlights is one designed by Spielberg himself, which shows a child holding an ice cream cone piled high with sweets.

He explains: "I had a childhood dream of having all of the sweets in the whole world.

"All kids naturally dream big, no matter what you dream of you should relish that dream."

Bidding on the piece stands at £8,500 ($11,377).

Professor Stephen Hawking, meanwhile, has designed a piece based on the dream of the ancient Chinese philosopher Zhuangzi.

Zhuangzi dreamed that he was a butterfly, but when he woke wondered whether he was in fact a butterfly dreaming that it was a man.

Professor Hawking said: "I might dream of the universe and then wonder if the universe dreamt of me.

"To answer your question how do we know if we are living in our dreams or reality - well, we just don't and perhaps can't!"

Other celebrities who have designed their own jars include Sophie Dahl, who dreams of a clapboard house by the sea, and Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams - who dreams of swimming with a blue whale.

Proceeds from the sale will be donated to Save the Children.
