The white dress worn by the iconic "Tennis Girl" in the world-renowned Athena poster will come up for auction on July 5 at Fieldings Auctioneers in the UK.

The dress, loaned to 18-year-old Fiona Butler for the shoot, will sell for between £1,000 and £2,000 ($1,672-3,344).

The late Martin Elliott (1946-2010) was the photographer for the shot in 1976, which was turned into a poster by Athena and has subsequently adorned the bedroom walls of adolescent boys ever since.

Butler, now 55, was Elliott's girlfriend at the time, and never received a penny for her well-rounded efforts.

The poster reportedly made Elliott in excess of £250,000 and secured his photography career.

The couple separated three years after the shot was taken, with Butler explaining to the Daily Mail newspaper: 'I am the worst person ever when it comes to money. To be honest, it didn't bother me at the time, and once it became successful the time had passed."

The dress was made by her friend Carol Knotts and was returned to her shortly after. She kept it as a memento of the shoot for decades, but has now consigned it to auction.
