$35,000 burning building model expected to set collectors' passions aflame

James D Julia Auctioneers' toy and doll auction on May 4 and 5 is expected to offer much to tempt investors.

Included will be one of the finest condition, all-original Carpenter Burning Buildings known to exist.

The wooden building with its cast iron façade depicts a brownstone townhouse engulfed in flames. With the pull of a string, the fireman ascends the ladder to the balcony, bringing the distressed damsel down to safety.

This rare version features the open storage door on the side.

A rare toy in its own right, and in remarkable shape, its untouched finish is unheard of. It comes with an estimate of $25,000-35,000.

Produced in the late 19th century and now worth an estimated $35,000

A rare Automatic Toys Woman's Rights clockwork toy is also on offer. The toy predates the company's eventual merge with the renowned Ives firm.

It depicts an energetic, bulging eyed black woman standing at a podium, pounding her fist, and clamouring for the right to vote. Known as the Suffragette, this rare toy is in marvellous original condition.

A charming combination of early clockwork, historical, and black memorabilia, this toy is deemed even more special by the fact that it comes with its very rare original wooden box. It has a presale estimate of $8,000-11,000.
