The Miami Heat jersey that LeBron James wore in his most successful season as a pro (so far) has been consigned to Heritage Auctions.
The 2012-2013 jersey is one of the finest from the NBA star to have come to auction, and one of the most important. It is expected to see top bids in the November 6-8 Sports Catalog Auction in Dallas.
The current bid is $4,250.
James has signed the shirt, adding his autograph and his nickname "King James" with a small drawing of a crown in the number 6 on the reverse. It comes with rock solid provenance having been gifted by him to his former high school teammate Sian Cotton, whom he played alongside in at St Vincent-St Mary's High School.
James is well known for his humble attitude and keeping in touch with his former teammates, and has returned to his first team, Cleveland Cavaliers, for the 2014-2015 season.
With James expected to lead his new team to the playoffs, Heritage states that the jersey "possesses all sorts of investment potential".
"Get it now before James tallies up a few more championships," reads the lot description.
The 2012-2013 season was undoubtedly James most successful season as a pro, in which he won the NBA Finals with the Heat and was the regular season and finals Most Valuable Player (MVP).
Also starring in the sale is Michael Jordan's complete uniform from the 1990-1991 season, which has an exceptional A10 grading from authentication company Mears. The 1991 season was the second that Jordan won the MVP award, as well as the first of six in which he lifted the Larry O' Brien Trophy.
