Property from the collection of basketball star Elgin Baylor is set to sell at a dedicated auction in Beverly Hills on May 31.

The legendary Laker has been named among the NBA's 50 greatest players of all-time by the league. He was also the 1958 NBA number one draft pick and 1959 Rookie of the Year. His collection will undoubtedly attract huge attention from sports collectors, as a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire some unique pieces.
The announcement of the sale follows the news that Heritage Auctions will offer a selection of rare Kareem Abdul Jabbar memorabilia as part of its Platinum Night Sports Auction, which will take place on February 23-24.
Highlights of the Elgin Baylor sale, which encompasses his entire career, include the star's 1959 NBA All-Star MVP trophy, as well as his 1971-1972 Los Angeles Lakers NBA Championship ring. Also featuring are Baylor's rare Lakers rookie shorts, which bear the number 14 rather than his familiar 22.
Perhaps the most intriguing lot of the sale will be a pair of Baylor's game worn shoes, which were taken without his knowledge and bronzed before being presented to him at a talk show appearance.
Baylor himself commented on the sale: "I've been blessed with a tremendous career and amazing fans throughout my entire life both on and off the court. Now it's time to share some of these historic items with those fans and collectors who want to celebrate with me as time goes on."
Paul Fraser Collectibles currently has a superb range of sports memorabilia for sale.
