A silver belt won by boxer Jem Carney in 1887 achieved £7,000 ($11,791) at Fellows in Birmingham, UK on July 31.
Briton Carney won the prize after beating Irish-American rival Jack McAuliffe in a gruelling 74 round bout in the US. This was common practice, with one famous contest in 1883 lasting over three hours.
Later matches would be set to a predetermined length, a move introduced by the legendary heavyweight John L Sullivan.
Muhammad Ali's Fight of the Century gloves also sold yesterday, achieving $388,500.
