The shoes the late golf legend Arnold Palmer was wearing when he won the 1958 Masters achieved an unprecedented $66,000 over the weekend.
Arnold Palmer has signed the shoes
Palmer passed away in September, prompting a surge of interest in his memorabilia.
One of his Masters trophies realised a record $444,012 at Green Jacket Auctions in December last year.
Ryan Carey, co-owner of Green Jacket Auctions, explained to ESPN: “You could have gotten these shoes for $5,000 any time in the last 20 years.
“But Palmer’s death created a category of people scrambling to get pieces associated with him.”
