Sir Alex Ferguson has held a charity auction of photographs from memorable moments in his remarkable career as manager of Manchester United at the club's Old Trafford stadium.

The now-retired Ferguson spent 26 years at the helm of one of football's greatest teams, and is considered one of the best managers ever to grace the sport. Bids at the UNICEF auction reflected his continuing popularity among fans, as well as the collectability of his memorabilia.
Over £25,000 ($40,335) was raised at the September 9 auction, with dozens of images signed by Sir Alex and Manchester United stars past and present. Among the top lots was a photo entitled Knights of Old Trafford, which features Ferguson and England's World Cup hero Bobby Charlton in the stands of Old Trafford.
The sale is followed by an online auction, now open for bids.
