The jersey Aaron Judge wore for his New York Yankees debut has auctioned for $160,644.
Aaron Judge on his Yankees debut
That is the kind of figure normally reserved for jerseys from the stars of yesteryear – think Ruth, Di Maggio or Mantle – and is an indication of just how great many spectators believe Judge will be.
Indeed, it's the biggest price for a US sports game-used jersey worn in the past 15 years.
Judge hit a home run in his first at-bat in the game, which took place on August 13 last year. That rare feat played a part in the price at the Steiner Sports sale on July 29.
Baseball's newest star has hit 33 home runs so far this season – a pace that puts him joint first in the big leagues.
The record for baseball memorabilia remains $4.4 million, set by Babe Ruth's earliest known jersey - from the Yankees' 1920 season.
