A first day cover signed by the 1939 inductees to the Baseball Hall of Fame was among the top lots of Lelands' sports memorabilia sale.
The rare lot realised $75,000 in the July 19 auction.
The intake for that year included some of the best known players of the era, including Honus Wagner, Larry Lajoie, Ty Cobb and Babe Ruth.
All have signed the envelope, which was postmarked June 12, 1939 at the post office in Cooperstown, New York.
Lelands comments: "Here the original signers have room to spare to show off their immortal signatures and as such, unconsciously, they have signed just a tad larger than normal.
"The interaction of the signatures is a dance, fitted in boldest blue and black fountain pen inks.
"They have signed in such a way that the recipient was special, an insider."
The original owner was postmaster general James A Farley, whose signature also appears on the envelope.
The sale also featured a Deflategate ball that sold for $43,760.
