World's 'most beautiful' classic aircraft sells for $671k

The only fully-restored 1929 Hamilton Metalplane H-47 in existence auctioned with no reserve at Barrett-Jackson, last weekend.

Described by Barret-Jackson as one of the rarest and most beautifully restored classic aircraft in the world, the H-47 - serial number 65 - is number 22 of only 29 built and the only airworthy example in existence.

"The rebirth of this Hamilton Metalplane is one of the most impressive restoration feats I've ever seen," said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson.

The highly anticipated sale, in Scottsdale, Arizona, saw a final hammer value of $671,000.
