A remarkable collection of antiques and memorabilia relating to Queen Victoria and Balmoral Castle will auction through Hansons Auctioneers on July 26, starring a pair of the queen's silk stockings.

The stockings will auction for up to £1,000 ($1,525). Another pair appeared at Tennant's Auctioneers in April, valued at £400-600 ($610-914).
Further highlights include a black mourning bodice and skirt that was worn by Queen Victoria circa 1885. It is valued at £500-800 ($762-1,220), although a similar mourning dress from the queen sold for £4,400 ($6,691) in June, spelling strong results for the present outfit.
Also starring are three handkerchiefs that carry the VR monogram, together with a hat pin case made from bone, which was reportedly owned by Queen Victoria.
All of the items have been passed down through the family of Mrs Christina Symon of East Balmoral, who, along with her husband, Mr John Symon, was a well-known and close friend of the queen.
