World's most valuable stamp destroyed in live TV interview

It's enough to make any collector cry...

British pensioner George Hansworth had discovered an example of the famous British Guiana One Cent Magenta stamp in his childhood stamp collection.

Only one other example is known to exist and it is valued at $5m. It's held in a bank vault in Philadelphia, USA.

Legend has it a second example was discovered in the 1920s only to be purchased and subsequently burnt by the owner, US industrialist Arthur Hind, who proclaimed 'There's only one magenta One Cent Guiana...'

George's example had been verified as genuine and was due to be auctioned in London later this year.

A delighted George is interviewed by the British News 24 TV channel... but with disastrous consequences.
