Eastern Auctions' philatelic mail auction kicks off tomorrow (August 25), with star lots including this untouched collection of USA stamps from 1851-1940.
This collection is substantially complete after 1900, with very useful material from 1851-1900 and strong back of the book, particularly in officials, revenues and official envelopes.
Apparently there is the odd noticeable fault here or there, especially in the earlier stamps. But overall the collection boasts fine to very fine quality used specimens, with light cancels being the norm.

Souvenir sheets in the collection are generally mint hinged.
According to Eastern, the collection's catalogue value in 2008 was almost $23,000 for just over 1,200 different stamps from the Classic period.
Today it is estimated at $9,500 - a great investment, and also a great lot to study, break-up or purchase as a core for an outstanding used USA collection.
