How to... Mount and hinge your stamps

US President Franklin D Roosevelt did it. The Rolling Stones' Ronnie Wood, singer Sophie Ellis Bextor and even Queen Elizabeth II do it today - and now, so can you!

In this week's How To guide, we look at the best ways to mount and, if required, hinge your precious stamp collection.

These two videos feature brief guides to help you ensure that you stamps remain protected and well displayed, allowing maximum enjoyment and protection for many years to come.

1. How to mount your stamps

This video demonstrates two methods to place your stamps in an album: with tweezers, or without.

2. How to hinge your stamps

Some collectors may wish to employ this hingeing technique. But beware: doing so to valuable unmounted mint stamps will drastically affect their value... much better to buy a 'hingeless' album from the off.

In other philately news, the Stampex is taking place this week in London, from now until Saturday (February 27).

The exhibition includes a number of stamps rarely seen by collectors. Highlights will include the South African Collectors Society which celebrates the centenary of the 1910 Union of South Africa.

Stampex will be held at the Business Design Centre, Islington in London with free entry.
