A $20,000-valued single lot of 20 albums of Paraguayan stamps will form the centrepiece of the sale, taking place with Daniel F Kelleher Auctions in New York.
German-born Benirschke (born 1924) moved to the US in 1949 and became a renowned pathologist and geneticist.
