1907 Panama Canal Zone stamp makes $8,000

A 1907 Panama Canal Zone stamp has realised $7,670 at Kelleher Auctions.

The error headlined the Donald A Kuske Specialized Collection of Canal Zone: Stamps and Varieties, Postal History and Postal Stationery, which took place in Connecticut on September 9.

The auction house described the piece as "one of the great rarities of [the] Canal Zone. Plass records only 9 examples, all used and 'apparently defective'. This stamp would be one of the nicer examples."
