An 1840 2d blue stamp will lead Spink's sale of the "Robert Wallace" Collection of Great Britain Line Engraved in London.
The rare lot is valued at £3,000-3,500 ($4,697-5,480) ahead of the January 27 auction.

Line engraving was the method used in the production of early stamps. It was supplanted by surface printing (a technique still in use today) in 1870.
