Music memorabilia market - 2013 auction review

The Beatles continue to dominate the music memorabilia market, with three of the top sales of 2013. Signed records by the band reached new heights, with a copy of Sgt Pepper achieving $290,500 in April. The price points of younger artists have also increased - with a dress owned by Amy Winehouse achieving $73,000 in June.

  • The electric guitar Bob Dylan shocked purists with at the Newport Folk Festival sold for $965,000 in December, achieving an impressive 93% increase on its $500,000 pre-sale estimate. It is now the most valuable guitar ever sold at auction.
