Madonna first revealed the Jean Paul Gaultier corset on the Barcelona leg of her 1990 tour. After performing Sooner or Later, the singer removed her long black gown to show the shimmering piece, before launching into Hanky Panky and Now I'm Following You.
Made from green silk with the renowned conical cups that are synonymous with the icon's style, the corset has a beaded fringe and is embroidered with candy stripes of opalescent sequins.
Another of Madonna's Jean Paul Gaultier corsets, from the 1987 Who's That Girl? tour, sold for $72,000 in late 2011, making a superb 800% increase on the $8,000 valuation. See our top five most shocking Madonna memorabilia for more of the sauciest sales.
Also selling well from Madonna's notorious wardrobe was another stage costume from the Blond Ambition tour. The two-piece black satin bustier and lycra shorts sold for £16,250 ($26,000), achieving a 35.4% increase on estimate.
The auction demonstrates that Madonna is one of the most collectible living celebrities on the planet.
