A handwritten page of the chorus for Joseph Haydn's Scenda propizio un raggio (1764) will auction in a sale of music manuscripts at Sotheby's.

Haydn Sothebys manuscripts
Haydn (1732-1809) was an influential 18th century composer

The lot carries an estimate of £150,000-200,000 ($228,150-304,200) ahead of the December 7 auction in London.

Sotheby's comments: "This is the most important autograph music manuscript by Haydn to appear at auction in the last two decades.

"It is a complete movement by Haydn; manuscripts in his hand of this length are among the rarest by any of the great masters of the classical era."

We have this manuscript fragment in jazz great John Coltrane's own hand for sale.
