The Louis XV style piano has been consigned from the estate of Mark Fritz, a veteran US broadcaster. It was created under the command of Joseph Burr Tiffany, the lead artist for Steinway's art case department and a relative of Tiffany & Co's founder.
Carved from solid mahogany and clad in 24 carat gold, the piece was created in 1903 to mark Steinway & Sons' 50th anniversary.
On March 6, Sotheby's will offer a rare Ruhlmann piano that sailed aboard the famously stylish 1930s ocean liner SS Normandie.
Paul Fraser Collectibles is currently offering an extremely rare signed photograph of the great pianist and composer George Gershwin, on which he has also written an extract from "a la Charleston."
