Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy letter to star in Auctionata's May 2 sale

An autographed letter from composer Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (1809-1847) to his sister-in-law Albertine is coming to auction.

The 1845 letter will feature in Auctionata's May 2 sale in Berlin and carries an estimate of $31,019-38,774.

The document offers condolences to Albertine, wife of Mendelssohn's younger brother, Paul, whose mother had recently died.

On May 20, the original manuscript for Rachmaninov's Second Symphony will auction at Sotheby's London with a £1-1.5m ($1.6m-2.5m) estimate.
