A vintage poster for horror film The Invisible Man (1933) has sold for $274,850.
That places the one-sheet teaser 10th on the list of most valuable film posters. It also smashes the $160,000 estimate set prior to the Heritage Auctions movie poster sale.
A new entry in the top 10 most valuable film posters
Experts believe it is the only one in existence.
“In only a few instances did the studio produce a teaser for their horror greats but when they did they were often outstanding as is this poster," explains the auction house, adding it is "perhaps one of the most impressive of all of the great Universal horror posters".
"Even the most advanced collectors have never seen this poster in person."
A 1935 Bride of Frankenstein lobby card made $51,385 while a 1951 one-sheet for The Day the Earth Stood Still achieved $21,510.
