Niki Lauda Ferrari replica brings $44,000 in Rush props auction

The replica of Niki Lauda's Ferrari 312T that featured in the 2013 film Rush has sold at the top of the Prop Store's July 11 online auction.

The film has boosted the popularity of both James Hunt and Niki Lauda memorabilia

Dedicated solely to props used in the film, the sale was led by the replica Formula 1 car, which sold within estimate at 25,740 ($44,044).

The fully driveable replica is one of nine that were made for the film, with the rest of those featured were real cars from the era that were loaned to the production team. It is a superb copy of the 312T used for the 1976 season, showing the "high" air box that was later removed due to regulations.

The top lot was followed by the suit worn by Daniel Bruhl in the scene that recreated Niki Lauda's notorious fire crash at the Nurburgring in 1976. The Ferrari suit, featuring burn marks from filming, made 3,600 ($6,157) - a 200% increase on estimate.

Also starring was the Ferrari cockpit body featured on Clay Regazzoni's (Pierfrancisco Favino) car during the film, which made 1,750 ($2,993). With a variety of replica Formula 1 car parts offered, the Marlboro air intake for James Hunt's McLaren sold at 1,350 ($2,309).

Paul Fraser Collectibles has a brilliant selection of genuine Formula 1 collectibles, including signed items from Jim Clark and Sebastian Vettel.
