James Dean racetrack photograph achieves $25,000

A photograph of James Dean at a racetrack was the headline lot of a March 22 sale at Premiere Props.

It achieved $25,000 in the California auction, an increase of 733% on a $3,000 estimate.

The image shows Dean standing next to a Porsche Speedster and was taken just before the actor and car enthusiast's first official race in Palm Springs in 1955.
