The Star Lord helmet achieved an extraordinary result at the Prop Store

It was worn by Chris Pratt in the role of Peter Quill, aka Star Lord.

The lot was given out as the prize in a 2015 giveaway held by Marvel and US movie ticketing site Fandingo. It was accompanied by a letter of provenance from the contest winner.

Meanwhile, a burgundy jacket Jack Nicholson wore as Jack Torrance in The Shining (1980) sold for £73,200 ($98,046).

That’s 46.4% above its valuation of £50,000 ($66,982).

British designer Margaret Howell created the jacket for the movie.

Nicholson already owned a similar jacket by Howell and felt it was a perfect fit for his character.

In all 11 were made. In 2005, another identical specimen sold for £4,560 ($6,107) at Bonhams – indicating the growing demand for classic movie memorabilia.

Star Wars fans were also well catered for with the inclusion of a C-3P0 head from The Empire Strikes Back.

The piece realised £73,200 ($98,046).
