Great Gatsby first printing with dust jacket to sell for over $40,000?

A rare first printing of F Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby with the original dust jacket is to auction at Nate D Sanders with a minimum bid of $40,000.

The auction is due to run until February 27.

The edition features a number of characteristic errors, including a mistype of Union Street Station on page 211 and a lowercase j corrected in ink on the back of the jacket.

The book is one of a handful to feature its original dust jacket

Although the jacket displays tearing and paper loss, its rarity makes it desirable in any condition. In 2009, a copy in exceptional condition made $180,000 at Bonhams New York.

Another copy in a similar condition to the present example made $46,875 at Heritage Auctions in October 2013.

Elsewhere in the sale, the costume worn by Michael Keaton in Tim Burton's Batman (1989), complete with the original gloves, boots and belt, carries a minimum bid of $30,000.

Bidding on a collection of Jaws memorabilia starts at $25,000.

The set includes a photo album, call sheets and rosters, and a series of life preservers worn by Richard Dreyfuss, Roy Scheider and Steven Spielberg.

We also have a range of movie memorabilia available to purchase.
