Dark Knight Rises Batpod sets new record at the Propstore

A Batpod motorbike used in the Dark Knight Rises achieved 312,000 ($405,624) at the Propstore in London on September 27.

That's a new record for a piece of memorabilia from any of Christopher Nolan's acclaimed Batman reboots.

The Batpod was made non-operational before the sale

It's one of six such vehicles created for the movie and, while it was fully operational on set, was disabled before the sale.

A clapperboard used on the set of Steven Spielberg's shark thriller Jaws (1975) more than doubled its 40,000 ($51,976) estimate to take 84,000 ($109,149).

While clapperboards are fairly common pieces of movie memorabilia, this one is highly distinctive as the sticks at the top have been cut to look like sharks' teeth.

It was used all the way through production, further enhancing its appeal.

A Trojan rabbit model from Monty Python and the Holy Grail realised 8,000 ($10,395).

It appears in the film flying over the battlements following a failed attempt by the knights of Camelot to infiltrate a French castle.

Special effects artist Valerie Charlton explained: "The model rabbit was filmed after we returned to London by Julian Doyle, my partner at the time.

"Julian was a director and cameraman who also co-produced Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

"He filmed the model rabbit as it was flipped on a fishing line from the roof of our house in Hampstead, London."

It's one of very few pieces of Monty Python memorabilia ever to come to auction.

The sale also included a selection of Star Wars memorabilia.
