The Greatest of All Time - Muhammad Ali

On this day in 1942, a boy was born in Louisville, Kentucky.

A boy with fire in his belly, lead in his fists and lightning in his feet.

At the age of 12 his precious bicycle was stolen, and he vowed to a police officer that he'd get revenge on the thief.

Do you know how to fight?” asked the officer.

“No, but I’d fight anyway,” said the boy defiantly.

“Why don’t you learn something about fighting,” the officer suggested, “before you go and make any hasty challenges?”

So he did.

And ten years later he was the greatest fighter in the world.

 A 20th century icon

Muhammad Ali
"It's not bragging if you can back it up."
Muhammad Ali

Everything Muhammad Ali did was big and bold.

The way he fought. The way he spoke.

The way he stuck to his moral principles.

For Ali, there were no half-measures in life.

He didn't just win the World Championship. He won it three times.

He didn't just trash talk his opponents. He wrote poetry about them.

And he didn't just speak about his beliefs. He risked his boxing career and his freedom to stand up for them.

Ali called himself "the Elvis of boxing", and claimed "it's hard to be humble, when you're as great as I am." How can you argue with that!

So if you want a piece for your collection that captures his spirit...

You should go big and bold and colourful, just like the man himself.

And here's the perfect way to do it.

The bigger, the better.

Muhammad Ali

Boom!

It was a fight that "shook up the world".

The moment Ali – then known as Cassius Clay, and just 22 years old – stunned reigning champion Sonny Liston to claim his first World Heavyweight title in March 1964.

Liston was ferocious. But Ali took him apart.

As commentator Howard Cosell said breathlessly: "This is without question, and there is no need to pour it on, one of the most astonishing upsets in the chronicles of boxing."

It was the start of Ali's legend.

And this photograph dramatically captures that famous fight.

But it isn't just the image that's striking.

It's also the size that hits you.

Because whereas most publicity photos measure 8 by 10 inches...

This one measures 16 by 15 inchesThat's huge.

And it's in very good condition, with sharp edges and no tears, scratches or creasing.

These oversized photos are far scarcer than standard sizes.

And they're highly sought-after by collectors because they make the finest display pieces.

Especially if they're signed as beautifully as this one.

From the hand of the Champ.

Muhammad Ali
Ali has signed this photograph in silver marker pen ink.

It's a large clear signature, ideally placed in the centre of the photo.

And the silver ink shines out against the dark background.

On a visual level, this is an autograph that really 'pops'.

It's an impressive display piece that demands your attention.

Just like Muhammad Ali when he stepped in the ring.

And when you hang it proudly on your wall, you can be sure it will catch the eye of everyone who sees it.
