The Beatles' £150,000 piano is withdrawn from Pop Culture sale

A Challen upright piano from London's famous Abbey Road studios was withdrawn from Bonhams' Pioneers of Popular Culture sale, this weekend (August 15).

At the time of writing, no reason has been given for withdrawing the lot.

It was played by The Beatles on a number of their hits including Tomorrow Never Knows and Paperback Writer, and also by Pink Floyd.

The coffee-stained piano had been scheduled to sell with a pre-sale estimate of £100,000-150,000.

Bonhams' sale was held at the inaugural Goodwood Vintage Festival, aiming to celebrate all that is cool and iconic from the period 1940-1990.

According to reports, the event was otherwise a success, as fashionistas and music fans travelled from far and wide to celebrate pop culture across the decades.
