Stairway to Heaven is a remarkable rock song by any standards. The fourth track on their fourth album (which was untitled, but dubbed Led Zeppelin IV) stands at a full eight minutes long, and was the most requested track on US FM radio in the 1970s, despite never being released as a single.
Now it has been voted the best ever rock song, ahead of The Who's Won't Get Fooled Again and Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.
'Led Zep' featured two other songs in the list, compiled by the radio station Absolute Classic Rock with Whole Lotta Love in fourth place.
The band's memorabilia is increasingly becoming valuable, with a complete set of autographs typically worth four figure sums. In June 2009, a gong played (and set light to!) on stage by the band sold for $64,660 at Bonhams.
Collectors and investors interested in collecting rock memorabilia may be interested to know that a set of Led Zeppelin signatures is currently on the market.
