Monroe's iconic "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" dress from that very role sold for an incredible £213,000 at Profiles in History's Los Angeles film memorabilia auction last week (June 10-12).
The gown sold for well above its £170,000 estimated pre-sale value; starring among 1,500 lots for sale in one of the largest memorabilia auctions ever to have been held in Hollywood.

Other highlights included the Wicked Witch of the West hat worn by Margaret Hamilton in The Wizard of Oz, sold for £137,420.
The face of the monster "Balok" which famously appeared in the closing credits of the original Star Trek series from 1966-69, doubled its estimate to bring £48,000.
Hollywood heartthrob Johnny Depp also made a couple of appearances. His Jack Sparrow jacket, as worn in Pirates of the Caribbean, brought £12,367; while the 'scissor hands' as featured in the Tim Burton-directed Edward Scissorhands sold for £18,885.
