Marilyn Monroe medical notes could make $30,000

A set of physician's notes indicating that Marilyn Monroe underwent plastic surgery will go under the hammer at the November 9-10 sale at Julien's Auctions with an estimate of $20,000-30,000.

The notes, written by plastic surgeon Dr Michael Gurdin between 1950 and 1962 reference a cartilage implant in her chin. Also included are a set of X-rays of the star's frontal facial bones, nasal bones and the roof of her mouth.

Medical notes pertaining to Monroe have surfaced before. Three X-rays of her chest dating to 1954 sold for $45,000 in 2010.

An auction of the estate of William Travilla, her costume designer, will take place at Julien's Auctions the day before the sale.
