Johnny Manziel's 2012 Texas A&M Aggies jersey has reached $24,000 at SCP Auctions, suggesting the American football player could be a collectible star of the future.

Manziel debuted for Texas in 2012, breaking several NCAA Division and SEC records in the process and leading the team to a 41-13 win over Oklahoma in the 2013 Cotton Bowl Classic.
Nicknamed "Johnny Football" (already a registered trademark), Manziel was selected by the Cleveland Browns as the 22nd pick of the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft.
However, he has divided opinions with his behaviour off the field and many question whether his success will continue.
The shirt was worn in six games of Manziel's freshman season, and has been photo-matched from its game wear. Signed by him on the reverse, it also features a number of inscriptions detailing his records.
It is the only game worn shirt from his college career seen at auction so far. The sale closes on August 23.
Paul Fraser Collectibles has a superb range of sports memorabilia for sale.
