An important collection of 10 items relating to George Custer will cross the block at Early American History Auctions.
Custer commanded the confederate Third Cavalry Division during the civil war
All are from the collection of a private McKinley, who served under Custer in the confederate Third Cavalry Division during the civil war.
They include a carte de visite photograph of Custer presented to McKinley in the aftermath of the war and a handwritten copy of his famous farewell address.
The fascinating lot also includes items that offer an insight into the war from McKinley's own perspective, such as a diary and a handwritten timeline.
It's expected to make around $16,000-20,000 in the July 9 sale.
