Have you ever heard the sound of a $450,000 violin?

The Carpenters, three extraordinarily talented musicians (not to be confused with the 1970s pop duo of the same name) will be playing historic violins and a viola, in a concert arranged by Christie's tonight.

Lauren Carpenter will be performing with a violin by Giovanni Baptista Guadagnini, 1753 (estimate at $350,000-450,000).

Meanwhile, here brothers Sean and David will play a violin by Carlo Giuseppe Testore, from 1701 ($60,000-80,000) and a viola by Gasparo Bertolotti da Salò, circa 1575 ($250,000-350,000) respectively.

The concert will be held by Christie's on 49th street - between the 5th and 6th avenues - in New York City this evening (April 23).

The instruments will then go under the hammer next Wednesday (April 28) at Christie's New York during its Spring Lane Musical Instruments sale.

It is always recommended to attended the pre-auction viewing before bidding on an item - and tonight's preview should be especially unmissable for collectors and investors alike.
