George Washington hair
This lock of George Washington's hair has been in the same family since the late 1800s

The piece is offered with an opening bid of $10,000 ahead of the December 3 sale.

It's accompanied by a letter of provenance explaining: "This lock of President George Washington's hair has been in the continuous possession of the extended families of Lewis Morris (1726-1798) and Robert Hunter Morris (1700-1764) since 1789."

Another lock of Washington's hair made $18,750 at Heritage in 2015.

We have a strand of Washington's hair for sale.

The auction will also include JFK's original notes from the campaign trail.
