Freeman's announces its September auction of Pop Culture collectibles

Freeman's Auctioneers are set to rub shoulders with one of the biggest television personalities in US collectibles today.

That's because American memorabilia expert Simeon Lipman is set to direct their first auction of memorabilia and pop culture collectibles next month.

Lipman will be recognised by many U.S collectors as one of the experts from the popular show "the Antiques Roadshow" and has over twewty years experience of dealing in both sports and pop culture memorabilia.

The auction will take place on September 3, 2010 and will feature investment grade collectibles from the world of music and entertainment, as well as memorabilia from the sports stars of today and yester year.

And in a unique twist, the sale will also feature collectibles from the emerging markets of hip-hop and punk music as well as designer toys and street art pieces.

Scheduled to take place in Freeman's Philadelphia auction rooms, the event has been designed to appeal to a broad audience of collectors by touching on sport, film, music and art.

A Frank Sinatra letter is up for sale

Some of the potential highlights of the sale include a one of a kind two page, signed letter from Frank Sinatra.
The letter was written by the singer to Chicago Daily News writer Mike Royko, after the journalist criticized Sinatra's affiliation with the local police.

With the letter copyrighted by Sinatra in May 1976, the upcoming auction lot carries a pre-sale estimate of £6,400 - 9,600 ($10,000 - 15,000) and is an ideal purchase for anyone considering investing in pop memorabilia.

For sports memorabilia collectors, the sale also offers an autographed baseball from the 1927 New York Yankees.

The piece is signed by seven of the team, including Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth. Little surprise then, that it carries a pre-auction estimated price of £9,600 - 12,800 ($15,000 - 20,000).

The event will feature over 310 items from celebrity names as diverse as Marilyn Monroe and the Beastie Boys. Furthermore, props and costumes from iconic films like Blade Runner and Terminator 2 will make the sale a must for any science fiction fan considering investing in a valuable collection.

The unique auction will be held on Friday September 3, 2010 at 12pm. An exhibition of all the lots will take place over the two days prior to the event, with pieces available to view from 10am to 6pm.
