![]() Ed Wood retains a huge cult following |
Wood (1924-1978) retains a massive cult following for his kitsch and schlocky exploitation movies, including Plan 9 from Outer Space and Glen or Glenda.
The lot includes documents from the production of Plan 9, including a composite image inscribed: "Edward D. Wood Jr. kneeling: with his ghoul friends from the film 'Grave Robbers from Outer Space' and William C. Thompsonthe cameraman who made it all possible!!!"
A press book for the film is also featured, alongside a series of stills from the set.
A draft manuscript for Harry Houdini's A Magician Among the Spirits is another highlight, with an identical opening bid of $2,500.
He writes: "I have spent a great many years in the study of Spiritualism, though not as much time as I did in the research of magic and magicians."
His notes in the margins include digs at his old friend Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who was a fervent believer in spiritualism. He writes often: "Would Shirlock [sic] Holmes have proceeded that way?"
