The Churchill family are putting up a selection of lots for auction including some from the world famous war leader Winston Churchill.

Most of the pieces are from the estate of Major Jack Churchill, Winston's brother.

The auction, on October 8, will feature a Churchill family table from Randolph Churchill, Winston's father.

This is expected to be easily the most expensive piece at £60,000. Nevertheless, many collectors will find some of the lesser valued pieces at least as interesting.

One piece of memorabilia particularly personalised to Churchill himself is a set of fur-lined suede gloves given to him by his secretary Grace in 1965.

There was little enough of them originally, as the Churchill family all tended to have small hands, but the ex-Prime Minister has indulged his habit of trimming the cuffs off for a closer-fitting feel.

They are estimated at £800.

Autograph collectors will be pleased to hear that there are seven typed letters to the West Essex Conservative Club, signed by Churchill, estimated at £500 a piece.

Another highlight is a 1933 biography, also signed, valued at £8,000.

The auction begins at 11am, and is located in South Cerney, Gloucester.

The auctioneer anticipates competitive bidding, which is only to be expected for a world famous leader and orator as Churchill was.

Churchill is a perennial favourite with American collectors.

We have in stock an autographed Churchill photo of the great man in a familiar pose. It's well worth a look.
