Hugh King, along with Arthur Kipling, co-authored what is generally taken to be the definitive book on Military Badges: Head Dress Badges of the British Army. Badges are now routinely referred to at auction by use of their KK number.
Hugh King sadly died in 2006, but he gave permission for his personal collection to be sold at Bosley's auctioneers and substantial selection of these will be on offer at the upcoming March 3 auction.
Other items in the sale include a variety of swords, including a French Napoleonic naval sword and a Japanese sword with a dragon on the handle.
There will also be the first section of a large German WW2 collection available.
Bosley's had some excellent sales last year, including the sale of a Polish Battle of Britain pilot's DFM group for £31,000, so we will be on the look out for more details, and pass them on as soon as possible.
The auction will take place on March 3 in Buckinghamshire, England.
