We've reported already on some exciting blades which are available in Hermann Historica's upcoming auctions (April 23-May 4), including one from the Ottoman Empire. Collectors will be waiting eagerly to see if they can repeat their feat with this beautiful antique that they did in their previous auction.
But great militaria from several countries is available for sale.
Prussia, in particular, is particularly well represented. There is a collection of uniforms from the wonderfully complete, colourful estate of a private of the 3rd Squadron of the Leibhusaren-Regiment.
To find a matching group of uniforms with the impressive matching red Attila is extremely rare, and this alone is expected to achieve over €8,000. Better still are items of memorabilia from the personal possessions of Prince Henry of Prussia (1862 - 1929), the brother of Kaiser Wilhelm II (1859 - 1941).
The jacket and white cap of a grand admiral of the imperial family is also to be offered with a reserve price of €12,000.
Collectors looking for an exciting piece of Prussian history should take also take a look at this letter from our stock: written by Napoleon to his Duc de Feltre, recommending that the gunpowder supply be increased in three towns near Breslau, to where Frederick III of Prussia had hurried.
Napoleon had apparently intuited that the Prince was intending to bring Prussia back into the war (which indeed he did, with a rousing series of speeches in Breslau).

A piece of fine arms and armour from that period of history is a fine sabre of honour manufactured in the Alsatian Klingenthal at the end of the 18th century.
It was only during the mid-18th century that the French began production of their own edged weapons rather than importing them.
This example is an etched gilt blade is expected to achieve €15,000 and dates from the early years of Napoleon Bonaparte (1769 -1821) or just before.
