A 1743 Dettingen Standard, one of the earliest British cavalry standards in existence, is coming to auction in London on June 27.
The 8th Regiment of Horse standard was flown at the Battle of Dettingen in Bavaria, the last time an English king led his troops on the battlefield.

It is expected to make £40,000, an estimate matched by a 1540 German Renaissance silver-mounted hand-and-a-half sword, which features a winged figure of Justice.
The auction will comprise 556 lots of militaria in all, with a 1559 Japanese silver-mounted dagger also set to perform well, with a £7,000 valuation.
