A rare silver 2p coin discovered in a donation box at Reading Hospital made £800 ($1,244) in a charity auction.

The rare coin dates to 1971 and is one of very few known specimens. They occur when a cupro-nickel blank is left in the minting machine.
Another example sold for £1,200 ($1,867) at Charterhouse in Dorset, UK last year.
